COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — A person was shot and killed outside a courthouse in Colorado Springs on Thursday, authorities said, shutting down court proceedings for the day as police investigated the shooting.
One person was found dead outside the El Paso County Courthouse, and one person was taken into custody, Colorado Springs police said on X, the social media service formerly known as Twitter.
“At this time, this appears to be an isolated incident and not an active shooter incident,” police said.
At a press conference shortly after the shooting, police spokesperson Ira Cronin said authorities were still investigating if there was any relationship between the suspected shooter and the victim.
